Falcons Ground Dukes in Dominant 28-9 Victory FREELAND — Powered by a relentless rushing attack and a stingy defensive front, the Freeland Falcons powered past the Essexville Garber Dukes for a decisive 28-9 victory. Freeland set the tone on both sides of the ball, racking up 347 rushing yards on 54 carries while holding Garber to just 120 yards on the ground. After a scoreless opening quarter, the Falcons broke the game open in the second period with a ground-and-pound assault. Brock Geth sparked the scoring at the 10:05 mark of the second quarter with a 2-yard touchdown plunge. Landon Brown added the extra point to give Freeland a 7-0 lead. Garber responded midway through the frame, cutting into the deficit with a 32-yard field goal at the 6:40 mark to make it 7-3. However, Freeland answered back just before halftime. Connor Post capped off a late drive with a 1-yard touchdown run at 1:30, pushing the Falcons' lead to 14-3 heading into the locker room after Brown’s second successful PAT. Freeland maintained control through the second half, using long drives to wear down the Dukes' defense. Jaxon Sauer found the end zone at 5:29 in the third quarter on an 8-yard touchdown run, stretching the margin to 21-3. The Falcons put the game virtually out of reach early in the fourth quarter when Nico Goodenough burst through the line for a 16-yard touchdown run at 11:02, bringing the scoreboard to 28-3. Garber managed a late score with 2:25 remaining in the game when quarterback Dakota Inda connected with Caleb Knapp for a 26-yard touchdown pass, cutting the final margin to 28-9.
