Coming off a strong Monday night win, Freeland welcomed rival and #13 Division 3-ranked Swan Valley. The drama was heightened even further as the Falcons celebrated Senior Night for nine of their players. Despite a constant mist falling over the stadium, excitement remained high. Freeland spent the first few minutes playing heavy defense before settling in, picking up where they left off on Monday, and launching their attack. In the 11th minute, Cole Harden set up Ian Harden for a fantastic finish to take a 1-0 lead. Continuing to apply pressure throughout the half, Freeland spent most of the time in the attacking third. In the 33rd minute, Nathan Anaya carried the ball from the corner of the box to his right, cleared a defender, and struck a shot past the keeper inside the back post. At halftime, with a 2-0 lead, the team recognized its seniors: Jon Obeso, David Zankl, Ryan Harden, Nathan Anaya, Brady Vandaele, Travis Lloyd, Austin Kloha, Jackson Puvalowski, and Mario Carrillo Moreno. In a rivalry match, you can never expect the opponent to give up, and the Vikings proved they wouldn't. Both teams battled back and forth in the second half. With seven minutes remaining, Swan Valley capitalized on an opportunity to cut the lead in half. However, Freeland stood tall in the final minutes to secure the victory. Freeland heads on the road this Monday to take on Midland High as they prepare for a deep postseason run!
