Varsity vs Mt. Pleasant Senior High School Tie The Falcon boys traveled to Mt. Pleasant for a rare Thursday night game against the Oilers, a tough Division 2 non-conference opponent. With both teams playing their third game in the past week, each looked to end the stretch on a high note. From the start, Freeland controlled the tempo. Playing through defensive midfielder Jackson Puvalowski, Freeland kept possession and left Mt. Pleasant chasing the ball. Center backs Austin Kloha, Brady Vandaele, and Bryce Collier, along with defensive wings Travis Lloyd and Oliver Ung, aggressively won balls and kept Mt. Pleasant pinned in their own defending half for most of the first half. This control allowed Freeland to push deep into Mt. Pleasant territory and send repeated crosses in from the corners. Although unable to finish, Ryan Brown shifted the angle of attack from the middle of the field, striking a shot that beat the keeper but hit the post and bounced wide. The match remained 0-0 at halftime, but Freeland kept up the pressure in the second half. Mt. Pleasant struggled to create chances, and when they did, goalkeeper Sawyer Prast was there to make key collects and a crucial diving save. With just over 10 minutes remaining Mt Pleasant gave the Falcon faithful a scare by sending a ball behind the Freeland keeper. However defender Ollie Ung was patiently waiting on the goal line to clear the ball and deny the potential game winning goal. In the end, neither team could find the back of the net, and the game ended in a 0-0 tie. Freeland now prepares to host Alma on Monday, looking to avenge a 1-0 loss to the Panthers from earlier in the season.
