Varsity vs John Glenn High School (10 - 7) Win After a scoreless opening quarter, John Glenn struck first early in the second frame when Russell Mailette broke into the end zone from eight yards out. The extra point put the Bobcats ahead 7-0 with 11:55 remaining before halftime. Freeland responded mid-way through the quarter on a two-yard touchdown dive by Brock Geth. Landon Brown split the uprights on the point-after attempt, knotting the score at 7-7 with 6:46 left in the half. The Falcons set the tone coming out of the locker room, embarking on a grueling 17-play drive that consumed nearly the entire third period. Freshman kicker Landon Brown capped off the march by drilling a 37-yard field goal, giving Freeland a 10-7 advantage with 2:20 to go in the third quarter. Freeland's defense took control from there, forcing turnovers on downs on John Glenn's next two possessions. The Bobcats caught a late break when a botched snap gave them prime field position at the Freeland 44-yard line. Glenn capitalized on a controversial decision that awarded them a key first down at the 19-yard line. Energized by the call, the Falcons' defense stiffened, dropping Glenn for three consecutive plays behind the line of scrimmage. Forced into a late game-tying field goal attempt, Glenn's final effort was thwarted when sophomore Ike Sulfridge surged through the line to block the kick. Freeland's offense then picked up a fresh set of downs before taking a knee to seal the hard-fought 10-7 victory.
