Falcons JV Roll Past Frankenmuth, 8-0

By Kara Reinke | Sep 1, 2026 7:19 AM

The JV Falcons came out firing against Frankenmuth, putting together a dominant performance from the opening whistle. Freeland poured in five goals in the first half, with Bryce Smolarek opening the scoring, followed by Nolan Gassner. Carter Kubiak found the back of the net twice, and Colton Sentz added another to send the Falcons into halftime with a commanding 5-0 lead. The pressure continued after the break. Gassner fired a shot that was initially turned away by the keeper, but he stayed with the play, collected the deflection and buried his second attempt for goal No. 6. Isaac Amthor and Kubiak then connected on a great run down the field, with Kubiak setting up Amthor for the finish to make it 7-0. One of the most exciting chances of the night didn't make the scoresheet. Lucas Sampson delivered a nice corner, and Jack Weiss reacted with a creative blind kick behind him that ricocheted off the top post. The Falcons weren't finished. On the final offensive push, Bryce Zehnder put a shot on frame that the Frankenmuth keeper deflected away. Kubiak was in exactly the right place, pouncing on the rebound and driving it into the back of the net to complete his hat trick and put the finishing touch on an 8-0 Freeland victory. While the offense filled the stat sheet, Freeland's defense was just as impressive, shutting down Frankenmuth's opportunities and keeping the pressure away from the Falcons' goal. A strong night all around from start to finish for the Falcons, with relentless offensive pressure and solid defensive play!
