The Freeland Falcons had a successful weekend at the Bay City Western Tournament, with all three levels putting together strong performances against tough competition. The Freshman team battled their way into the Gold Bracket, earning a spot in the semifinals before coming up short. Their effort and determination throughout the day showcased the future of the program. The JV squad had an impressive tournament run, finishing as Runner-Up and bringing home 2nd Place overall after a strong showing from start to finish. The Varsity team also advanced to the Gold Bracket, finishing the weekend with a 2-2 record. The Falcons were eliminated by Midland, who went on to win the tournament championship. Leading the way for Varsity was Molly Gerzseny, who dominated at the service line with 7 aces. Offensive production came from Parker Wheatley with 21 kills and McKenna Koehler with 15 kills. Defensively, McKenna Koehler and Kyle Wheatley controlled the net, recording 5 blocks and 4 blocks, respectively. Setting up the offense was Kendall Jaremba, who distributed 46 assists throughout the tournament.
