Freeland made the trek to Alpena for the Alpena Tournament. The schedule originally displayed three games for the day, but Mother Nature had different plans. Just 3 minutes and 19 seconds into the first game against Armada, play was halted due to lightning. After a delay of over four hours, Armada decided to head home. The Falcons then geared up to play the host, the Alpena Wildcats. With shortened 20-minute halves, both teams looked to strike quickly. The Falcons displayed superior possession, which led to senior Nathan Anaya playing a ball from the left wing into the box. Sophomore Ian Harden then used a nifty heel flick to slide it past the goalie with just 12 seconds left in the half. The 20-minute second half went by in a flurry. The Falcons once again controlled the pace of play in the scoreless half to secure the 1-0 victory. The Falcon defense, along with keepers Sawyer Prast and Bryce Zehnder, continued their trend of allowing no goals to their opponents. Freeland returns to action this Wednesday as they open league play at home against Garber.
