The freshman volleyball team had a great first tournament, showing a lot of hard work, determination, and growth throughout the day! The girls started the tournament in pool play against Bay City Western. After dropping the first set 23-25, they battled back to win the second set 25-22. In their second match, the team earned a strong two-set victory over Hemlock, winning 25-23 and 25-17. They then faced Grand Blanc, losing the first set 18-25 before responding with an impressive 25-15 win in the second set. Their strong pool-play performance earned them the 4th seed in the Gold Bracket. In bracket play, the girls came out ready to compete and defeated Garber in two sets, 25-15 and 25-14. They then faced Dow, the eventual tournament champions. The girls fought hard but fell 13-25 and 15-25. Overall, it was an impressive first tournament for the freshman team. The girls worked incredibly hard, competed with confidence, and continued to improve throughout the day. The team was led by some awesome digs from Gabby Diekman and tough, aggressive serving from Makenzie Shepard. What a great way to start the season! We are so proud of the effort, teamwork, and fight these girls showed from the first serve to the final point.
