The JV volleyball team fell to a strong Cascade team 0-2. Defensive improvements and aggressive offensive opportunities are coming together for the team, though. Defense was the stat of the night, with many girls picking up personal bests. Jaylyn Stewart had 13 digs, Morgan Berry had 11, Izzy Edgar had 9, Maddi Shoemaker had 8, and Sadie Sheets had 6 digs. Izzy Edgar and Maylie Perez each had 3 kills, and Bella Vega had 2 kills. The team travels to Southmont on Saturday for the MAC JV tournament. In varsity action, it took five hard fought games to seal the victory. It was a true team victory with each player leaving it all on the court. Jalen Smith had 38 assists, 13 digs, and 7 kills. Lily Rockhold had 27 kills, 4 aces, and 3 blocks. Chloe Moudy had a personal best of 7 kills on .583 hitting while Emely Gil Guijosa had a personal best of 9 digs and 2 key aces in games four and five. Grace Myers had 13 digs. Sophie Micheal had 3 kills and Adelaide Keck had 3 blocks. In game 5, the teams were trading point for point with the biggest lead being 2 until Caroline Queen stepped back to serve for the team. She led a 5-0 service run, outlasting two Cascade timeouts and finishing the run with an ace to win the match. Caroline also picked up 16 digs and 6 kills. The team and coaches want to thank everyone for such an electric home opener. It takes a whole community to put an environment like that together! Thank you!!!
