Hot Dog Volleyball Over the Tigers

The Hot Dog varsity volleyball team moved to 3-1 in conference play with a win over Lebanon. After a slow start, the dogs overcame a large deficit in game one to win 25 - 23. The team had a huge night at the net blocking as Chloe Moudy had 4, Addy Keck had 2, and both Jalen Smith and Lily Rockhold each had 1. Jalen Smith let the offense with 31 assists and 8 kills. Lily Rockhold had a personal best of 27 kills. Justine Thomas had 6 kills, and Chloe Moudy had 4 kills. Leading the comeback in game one, Ella McAtee had an impressive serving night with 5 aces at 97%. She also had a big defensive match with 9 digs. Ashley Zheng had 14 digs, Caroline Queen had 13 digs, and Morgan Harrington had 8 digs. Daizy Valdez Santos came in clutch in game two to break a service run and picked up a dig for the team. Tonight was a true team effort. Thank you to all of the fans who brought the noise!! The varsity will compete in the Rossville Invite on Saturday. In JV action, the team played well but fell in two. Grace Myers had 3 aces and 9 digs, Morgan Berry had 10 digs and 2 aces, and Maddi Shoemaker had 2 aces and 2 kills. Khloe Kingma and Sadie Sheets each had two kills, and Karmen and Bella Vega each had 4 digs. Izzy Edgar picked up 3 digs. The group continues to improve and compete at a high level and will travel to Southmont on Saturday for the final JV Sagamore Athletic Conference tournament.
