The Rangers kicked off their 2025 soccer season in impressive fashion, defeating the Mount Vernon Wildcats 6-2 to move to 1-0 overall and 1-0 in PAC play. The tone was set early, as it took less than a minute for the Rangers to find the back of the net. Geo Zelaya delivered a precise pass to Hunter Osborne, who wasted no time opening the scoring and putting the Rangers up 1-0. Just nine minutes later, Parker Wolf doubled the lead with a goal in the 10th minute, capping off a dominant start. Mount Vernon responded quickly, scoring in the 11th minute to cut the lead to 2-1. However, the Rangers answered right back. In the 13th minute, Parker Wolf turned provider, setting up Osborne for his second goal of the game to push the lead to 3-1. The first-half fireworks continued in the 18th minute, when Gabe Schemenauer added another goal off an assist from Luke Meunier, giving the Rangers a 4-1 lead. Goalkeeper Dexter Meyer recorded one save before the break to help maintain the cushion. The Wildcats came out aggressive in the second half, scoring just two minutes in to bring the score to 4-2. But again, the Rangers had a quick answer. Lucas Dooley found the back of the net in the 44th minute to make it 5-2 and restore the three-goal advantage. Hunter Osborne put the game out of reach with his third goal of the match, completing his hat trick with 20 minutes remaining. With the victory, the Rangers move to 1-0 on the season and in PAC conference play. They return to action on Saturday, August 23rd, when they travel to face Tell City at 10 a.m. ET.
