The Forest Park Ranger Cross Country team opened their season today at the Warpath Cross Country Invite in Borden, Indiana. The boys' race kicked off the event with 67 runners toeing the starting line. Senior Owen Troesch led the Rangers with a strong performance, finishing 15th overall with a time of 18:33—a 17-second improvement on his personal record. Freshman Xavier Berg impressed in his high school debut, finishing 24th with a time of 19:21. Sophomore Marcus Berg also ran well, finishing 37th in 21:06, just 19 seconds off his personal best. Senior Camden Cole showed significant improvement from last year’s race at Borden, running nearly a minute faster to place 42nd with a time of 22:06. On the girls’ side, the Rangers were without last year’s Warpath Invite individual champion, Riley Hinson, who traveled with the soccer team to a match in Evansville. Despite the nearly 100-degree heat index, the girls competing today put forth a strong effort. Sophomore Kendal Gehlhausen led the way, finishing 17th with a time of 23:21. Close behind was freshman Addi Evitts, placing 25th in 24:10. Sophomore Delainey Auffart was the third Ranger to cross the finish line, placing 34th in 26:33. Sophomore Kendall Fischer battled the heat and finished 53rd with a time of 31:11. The Rangers will return to action this Thursday at their home invite. The boys' race will start at 6:00 PM, followed by the girls' race at 6:30 PM.
