Forest Park Varsity Rangers punched their ticket to the Sectional Championship with an 8-3 win over North Posey on Saturday at Tell City, led by a three-hit performance from Jared Burger. The Rangers wasted no time getting on the board, striking for four runs in the top of the first inning. Burger’s RBI single opened the scoring, followed by a sacrifice fly from Hudson King and a two-run error that extended the lead. King added another sacrifice fly in the third to make it 5-0. Burger finished the day 3-for-4 at the plate, collecting hits in the first, third, and fourth innings. EJ Brosmer reached base three times via walks, while the Rangers as a team showed great discipline, drawing seven free passes. On the mound, Jaxon Lueken earned the win, tossing six innings and allowing just three runs on three hits while striking out six. Korbyn Persohn closed things out with a scoreless seventh inning in relief. Defensively, Forest Park was sharp, playing error-free baseball. The Rangers now advance to the Sectional Final, where they’ll face Mater Dei on Monday at 6:30 PM.
