Forest Park Varsity Rangers showed heart and hustle in the Sectional Championship on Monday but came up short against Evansville Mater Dei, falling 9–6 at Tell City. The Rangers jumped ahead early, taking a 1–0 lead in the top of the first on an RBI groundout from EJ Brosmer. Mater Dei responded in the bottom half to tie it, then capitalized on free passes and a wild pitch in the second to build a 5–1 advantage. Despite the deficit, Forest Park continued to fight. Nolan Begle led the offensive charge, going 2-for-3 with three RBIs to pace the lineup. Jared Burger stayed hot at the plate with a 3-for-4 performance, while Korbyn Persohn added two hits of his own. The Rangers also flashed the leather, turning three double plays to keep the game within reach. As the season comes to a close, we want to extend our deepest thanks to our six seniors — Nolan Begle, Elijah Brosmer, Tyler Fetter, Korbyn Persohn, Will Persohn, and Talon Rohleder — for their leadership, commitment, and impact on Ranger Baseball. Your legacy will carry on in this program for years to come.
