The Forest Park JV Rangers battled all night Wednesday, but Southridge walked it off in the eighth inning to hand the Rangers a tough 2-1 loss. This one was a pitcher’s duel from the start. Griffin Haas was outstanding on the mound for Forest Park, striking out eight over five strong innings while allowing just one run. The Rangers’ pitching staff finished with 12 strikeouts in the game. Southridge finally broke through in the sixth inning with a sacrifice fly to take a 1-0 lead, but Forest Park answered right back when it mattered most. In the top of the seventh, Aiden Lubbers came through with a clutch RBI single to center field to tie the game and send it into extra innings. The Rangers continued to battle defensively and on the bases. Forest Park played a clean game in the field without an error, while Jarrett Dixon led the defense with 12 chances. On the bases, the Rangers stayed aggressive all night with six stolen bases. Trevor James and Reid Fleck each picked up multiple steals. Cohen Hoppenjans led the offense with two hits, while Lubbers drove in the Rangers’ lone run. After seven tight innings, Southridge finally ended it with a walk-off single in the bottom of the eighth. Even in the loss, the Rangers showed toughness, energy, and fight from the first pitch to the last.
