The Forest Park Rangers were just a few outs away from a road win Saturday before South Spencer rallied late for a 4-3 victory. After a scoreless start, the Rangers broke through in the fourth inning. Forest Park used a pair of productive groundouts to bring home runs, with Hudson King driving in the first score of the game. The Rangers continued to battle and carried the lead into the sixth inning behind a strong effort on the mound from Carter Jochem. He worked five and two-thirds innings, striking out six while keeping South Spencer’s offense under control for most of the afternoon. South Spencer answered in the bottom of the sixth, putting together several key at-bats to regain the lead. The Rebels tied the game with a run-scoring single and later pushed across the go-ahead run after drawing a bases-loaded walk. Forest Park had chances throughout the game despite being limited to three hits. Cohen Hoppenjans, Grant Fleck, and Riley Begle each recorded a hit, while Jaxon Lueken, King, and Begle each drove in a run. Forest Park will look to bounce back Monday against Loogootee.
