JV2 Baseball Wins Season Opener

Fishers Tigers JV Silver (1-0) beat Zionsville despite a shaky top of the 1st. The Tigers came out a little shaky in the top of the 1st inning giving up 3 runs on 2 walks and an error defensively. The Tigers went down 1,2,3 in the bottom of the first despite hitting the ball hard. After the first the Tigers pitching and defense only allowed 2 more hits on the day both weak ground balls to 3rd that the Tigers had no play. Luke Benefiel who started on the mound for the Tigers threw 3 innings only giving up 3 hits with 4 walks and 2 strike outs. The Tigers put 2 runs up in the 2nd inning with the first coming off a RBI single by Thomas Downey-Underwood. Chase LoGreco came in to courtesy run and quickly stole 2nd and 3rd before scoring on a passed ball. The Tigers tied the game 3-3 in the 3rd on a ground ball from Drew Spicer that Kellan Ferguson was hustling and scored from 2nd. The Tigers took the lead in the 4th inning on a RBI double from Thomas Downey-Underwood. Will Koon came in the top of the 4th to pitch for the Tigers and shut down Zionsville the remaining 4 innings. Koon allowed 0 runs on 2 hits, 0 walks, and 3 strike outs. Thomas Downey-Underwood finished the day 3-3 with a double and 2 RBIs. Drew Spicer went 1-3 with 2 RBIs as well. Hayden Dowell was 1-2 with a double and Taylor Meaux was 1-2 as well. The Tigers stole 9 bases on the day highlighted by Chase LoGreco swiping 3 bags.
