The Freshman team won a physical game on Saturday, 26-18. The first half was a battle for field position, with the offense trying their best to find a rhythm. The first score of the game followed a strong defensive stand, pinning the Flashes deep and setting the Tiger run game up for success. A scramble by Kellen Miller set up a short punch-in for Sam Hawkins Jr. The offensive line continued to flex their muscles during the second half, setting up Hawkins Jr. for two more scores on the ground. Toward the end of the game, both teams began to trade punts. The big guys on the line, Carden Stevenson, Treveon Lewis, Jaiden Wu, Keagan Lett, James Murray, Spencer Vance, and Keegan Gates helped ice the game in the final minute, scoring their fourth and final score of the game. Graham Stout was 2/3 (1 blocked) on PATs. The defense also showed poise and determination to help secure the win. The Flashes hit the ground running, scoring two early rushing touchdowns behind an athletic pair in the backfield. Coaches and players rallied on the fly, establishing the necessary game plan to limit the opponent’s big-play ability. Defensive linemen JT Tyler and Maleek Daouda kept pressure in the backfield while Hunter Donoho showed leadership and adaptability, making key halftime adjustments to set the team up for success. The Flashes’ offensive attack never felt out of striking distance, so the play of the game came in the final moments as Tommy McDermott sealed the game with an interception and a major return. The Freshman Tigers move to 4-3 on the season. They will play their final home game of the season this Saturday, October 12th against Westfield. Kickoff at 10am. Go Tigers!
