The Fishers Tigers hosted the Noblesville Millers to open the Hoosier Crossroads Conference season and brought home a hard-earned 17-14 overtime victory. The Tigers rolled up over 300 yards of offense but couldn’t find the end zone until midway through the 4th quarter. The defense held strong all night and forced multiple turnovers on downs and punts to keep Fishers in the game. After recovering a fumble for a touchback in the Millers overtime possession, senior Jon Tangara kicked the game-winning field goal to secure the homecoming win for the Tigers. The Noblesville Millers received the opening kickoff and marched into Tigers territory behind a long run by Tyler Holmes. However, Nathan Ash made a great tackle in the backfield to force a turnover on downs. Fishers proceeded to march down the field, but a fumble inside the 10 was recovered by the Millers. The defenses continued to dominate the first quarter as both teams punted. Graham Imes connected on a 67-yard punt for the Tigers, but the ball rolled into the end zone for a touchback right before it could be downed. The Millers connected on their own wind-aided punt to pin the Tigers at their own 1-yard line early in the 2nd quarter. Fishers couldn’t get any offense going and was forced to punt from their own end zone. The ball caught the wind and went out of bounds giving the Millers great field position. Israel Oladipupo scored on a 4-yard run to give Noblesville the first lead of the game. The defenses from both sides forced punts to give Noblesville a 7-0 lead going into the locker room at halftime. The 3rd quarter featured all defense as the two teams totaled 5 punts and the score held at 7-0 in favor of the Millers. Noblesville put together an almost 6-minute drive that was finished by Tyler Holmes with a 3-yard touchdown run to push the lead to 14 points for the Millers. But the Tigers answered back quickly through the air as Gage Sturgill found Carsen Eloms for a 47-yard touchdown to get Fishers within 7 with just under 4 minutes to play. After a huge defensive stand and a short punt, the Tigers again marched down the field. Sturgill found JonAnthony Hall for a 9-yard score to even the score with 1:35 to play. Fishers drove down but the Millers intercepted the ball in the end zone with less than 5 seconds to play to force overtime. The Millers started the overtime period, but fumbled which was recovered by Emmanuel Cowherd in the endzone for a touchback for the Tigers. On 3rd down, Jon Tangara kicked a 22-yard game winning field goal to give the victory to the Tigers.
