The Mustangs opened the Lou Lefevre era with a heartbreaking Double Overtime 41-44 loss. North Montgomery was able to hit the go head three as time ran out. Fountain Central got out to a good start leading after the first quarter 11-9. Then they really put on the clamps on the Chargers by holding them to 3 points in the second quarter. The Mustangs went into the half with 20-12 lead. The third quarter was tight as the Chargers started to chip away at the Mustang lead. The Mustangs offense really went cold in the fourth quarter as they were only able to score three points. A lot of missed layups and free throws allowed North Montgomery to come back and tie the score. In both overtime periods the teams traded shot for shot until the final buzzer of the second overtime. The Mustangs were led in scoring by Eli Foxworthy with 19, followed by Ayden Batchelor with 12.
