Your DeMotte Christian Knights will play for a sectional title on Saturday night. Tri-Township put forth an inspired effort on Friday in the semifinals, but the Knights were too strong, pulling away to win 63-30, thanks to a 35-15 second half. It was another balanced scoring effort for DMC. Sophomore Tony Bos led the team with a very efficient 14 points, shooting 6 of 8 from the field and 2 of 3 from three. Davis Peterson and Gabe Rottier each added 11, and Luke Terpstra scored 8. This win marks the Knights’ 18th of the season, and extends the winning streak to nine. In the final, DMC will battle host Kouts, who took down Morgan Township 52-46 in Friday’s second semifinal. The Knights lost to Kouts in their third game of the season, squandering a fourth quarter lead on the road in a low-scoring affair on the first of December. There’s no doubting the fact that DMC has come a long way since– the Knights have now gone a full month without a loss. Nonetheless, the Mustangs will be a tough opponent, especially on their home floor, and it must not be forgotten that they are the reigning champions of Sectional 49, after topping Morgan Township in last year’s final. All signs point to a tight game on Saturday night. Will the Knights capture the third sectional title in program history, or will Kouts repeat? Tipoff is at 7 pm. Arrive early. Luke Zylstra
