DeMotte Christian Knights

Elsie Burlingham does the scoring again for the Knights, tallying another hat trick! The Knights connected well on both offense and defense, but it was Burlingham to finish in the net for the Knights. Senior goalie Eva Orsburn had a great game in goal, punctuated by a diving stop in the midst of offensive attackers in the second half as Rensselaer put on the pressure. A good attack by Rensselaer started off the scoring for the Bombers to give the Knights their first deficit of the season, trailing 0-1 in the first half. DeMotte Christian responded shortly after when the Burlingham got her own rebound off of a great save from Rensselaer's keeper, who had a fantastic game being aggressive in her goal box. Before the halftime whistle blew, the Knights took the lead off of a pass from freshman Hannah Van Schouwen to Burlingham in the middle, who drove the shot into the net from just outside the box to make the score 2-1 Knights. The second half showed lots of good team defense and another Burlingham goal to cap off her hat trick. The end of the game ended on a somber note however, as Melanie DeBoer injured her knee as time expired on the game and needed to be helped off the field. The Knights will be back in action at home on Thursday night against Culver Community.
