Napier, Davis to compete at IHSAA XC Regional Saturday

Beau Napier & Koby Davis are set to compete this Saturday in the IHSAA XC Regional in Shelbyville, IN. Here is important information about the meet: Course Blue River Cross Country Venue, Blue River Memorial Park, 725 Lee Blvd, Shelbyville, IN. Blue River CC Course (www.bluerivercc.com) has gentle rises, long straights, sweeping turn but it is deceivingly challenging. The course is both runner and spectator friendly. The course is conveniently located off of I-74 with ample parking, restrooms and spectator areas. Please visit the website for more information including spectator, bus info and course/park maps. The course is 10m wide all around, at times, even wider; turns are sweeping turns. NO PETS ARE ALLOWED! Please tell all spectators! Meet Schedule **PARKING WILL NOT OPEN TO IHSAA EVENT TEAMS UNTIL 8:30am. Spectators may begin entering at 9:00 via the designated entrances to Blue River Park only. 8:30am – Bus parking opens into fairgrounds, course opens to teams, no spectators 9:00am – Park opens to spectators via spectator entrances 9:30am – Head Coaches meeting for all head coaches @ Finish Line, GET PACKETS NOW, know who your 7 running are to only take those chips 10:15am – Course closes 10:20am – National Anthem Boys report to start line, No run outs after 10:25am, no team meetings in start area 10:30am – Boys race 11:05am – Girls report to start line, no run outs after 11:10am, no team meetings in start area 11:15am – Girls race 12:15pm – Awards (please allow teams in front, spectators in back) Admission IHSAA event REQUIRED admittance fee is $10 per person. Media must contact SHS Athletics 5 days in advance as per the IHSAA Fall Bulletin for media credential. Media must park in the main lots and are not permitted in the operations building. Media must also stay away from the finish line at all times and out of all timing camera views, workers paths. Facilities and Miscellaneous See www.bluerivercc.com for maps, parking, additional bus info • Print course maps to bring with you and for your spectators, none available on site. • There is space for team camp areas to the right as you enter from the fairgrounds. Please keep all team camps in this area. • Restrooms for spectators and athletes are available in the permanent buildings, be responsible with toilet paper use, as they can clog fairly easily. Athletes may also use the port-o-pots located near team camp area. • BRCCV is a ‘pack it in, pack it out’ park so please plan to carry your trash out with you and clean your area up or help us pick up other trash as you see it. • NO showers available. • NO non meet vehicles will be allowed beyond the parking lot for any reason. Team tents etc will need to be wheeled or carried back to be set up and taken down. No exceptions! IMPORTANT Information to share with parents/spectators/bus drivers ahead of time! • See the maps/instructions posted on www.bluerivercc.com for best ways into the park • No coaches/parents/coach’s cars are to cross the grass area or be on the blacktop drives to unload tents, coolers etc or to load them back up. Nor may fans/coaches park in the Parks Maintenance Building lot. The Parks Dept has asked this to be enforced! Non authorized vehicles will be towed at owner expense. Please park where directed by staff workers, not in grass unless instructed to. • NO pets are allowed PLEASE LEAVE THEM AT HOME. This is an IHSAA rule as well as a venue rule. • Restrooms for spectators and athletes are available in the permanent buildings. No spikes in the buildings. • Spectators will not be allowed in or near the finish for any reason, they must remain behind flagging/fence and must walk around it, not go under it when moving about. They must also take great care whenever crossing any part of the course so as not to interfere with any competitors. • Please do not stand on the fence! • Spectator parking will be available around the softball diamonds (south side for handicap only), the splash pad building and in the grass. Please follow staff directions for where to park. • Handicap parking will be in the lot closest to the finish, those requesting to park there should show attendants their handicap placard. These spaces are first come, first serve. No parking beyond lots. • Busses will drop athletes off in the fairgrounds and park in the fairgrounds. Follow the signs for this. Spectators will not be allowed to follow busses into the fairgrounds. • Several restaurants are located within 2 miles. Ask us ahead if you’d like recommendations! SHARE, SHARE, SHARE this information!! REMEMBER spectators cannot follow busses into the fairgrounds. Remind your spectators to leave pets at home! Remind spectators there is a $10 per person admission rate online tickets only via the IHSAA website in advance. From Eastbound I-74: Exit 113, St Rd 9. Turn right off the exit toward McDonald’s. Go to the 4th stop light (1st one once you’ve crossed the bridge) and turn left onto Mechanic St. Take this to the stop sign and go left onto Vine St, it will turn into Morris Ave after you cross a bridge. Then follow the ALL BUSSES box at the bottom. SPECTATORS following busses from this direction: Spectators who follow busses should take the Y on Morris Ave to the left, following the cemetery. Go through the stop sign straight, the park will appear on their right. They can enter via the gate off Morris or continue and turn onto Lee Blvd and enter there. From Westbound I-74: Exit 116, St Rd 44, go left under the interstate, go to the stop light. Go right. Follow this to the 5th stop light, Papa John’s on the right, turning right onto Vine St and then follow the ALL BUSSES box at the bottom. SPECTATORS following busses from westbound I-74 should go left off the exit to the first stop light, turning right at the light going toward Starbucks. This is Lee Blvd. Pass by the side of Wal Mart.. The park entrance will be on their left after they cross the bridge. From Eastbound St Rd 44: Bring 44 into Shelbyville, at the 1st flashing light turn left still following 44 signs. At the Stop Sign continue right, following SR 44 signs, at next stop light go left, still following SR 44, at next light go right (CVS on corner) staying on SR44. At the 2nd stop light past the CVS, Papa John’s on the corner, just past KFC, go left onto Vine Street. Once on Vine go straight through the stop sign and then follow the box at the bottom from this point. SPECTATORS following busses from this direction can go either way into the park by following the directions in the top box or by going straight on SR44 to the 3rd light past the bus turn off (Papa John’s) and turn left toward Wal Mart, at the stop sign past Wal Mart turn left onto Lee Blvd, the park entrance will be on their left just over the bridge.
