The CMS Cross Country team had a great start to the season on Saturday 8/16. The team traveled to Batesville for a 10 team invitational. With many personal best times being run creating much optimism for the upcoming campaign. The boys turned in a third place performance, placing 3 runners in the top 10. Maysn Welter led the Spartans in 3rd, breaking 11:00 and posting a career best 10:50. He was followed by Desmond Shipman 7th (11:27) and Leo Moyer 9th (11:47). 30th Graham Pflum 13:21 38th Alexander Streuwing 14:10 (Personal Best) 42nd Hunter Gregory 15:07 51st Landon Bales 16:37 In the reserve race Noah Rees Finished in 8th with a personal best 15:21. 18th Aiden Carr 17:47 20th Boyd Durstine 18:36 22nd Connor Evans 10:05 25th Nathais Rude 20:31 The girls competed with an incomplete team (only 4 girls) due to the State Fair. They were led by Caroline Roberts in 23rd (15:30). She was followed closely by Cree Slater, a 6th grader in her first meet at CMS, running an impressive 15:40 in her debut. Riley Smith finished 51st (21:57) and Kyra Bransetter 54 (24:56) The team has a short recovery time, returning to racing at Union County on Tuesday 8/19. They will face off against the host Patriots and the East Central Trojans at 5:00.
