The Connersville Lady Spartans hosted EIAC opponent and potential sectional rival Rushville. The Lady Spartans came out strong and played with purpose, using smart ball placement and aggressive play to secure a 5–0 victory over the Lady Lions. At No. 1 singles, Sophia Starr defeated Izzy Simmerman 6–0, 6–2. Bella Starr earned a 6–1, 6–1 win over Annie Buzzard at No. 2 singles, while Amielya Mays won 6–0, 6–1 against Grace Doll at No. 3. In doubles action, Cam Butts and Trinitee Steele won 6–1, 6–2 over Cora Morgan and Kelsey Morgan at No. 1, and Maddie Harrison and Ella Miller cruised to a 6–0, 6–0 victory over Karigan Cox and Elise Cain at No. 2. In junior varsity play, Abby Keal won 6–1 over Brylee Shaver at No. 1 singles. Cat Graves defeated Kensleigh Jackson 6–1 at No. 2, and Frances Kelly earned a 6–4 win over Emma Booher at No. 3. In doubles, Sophie Neal and Tessa Kelley fell 2–6 to Kennedy Miller and Lux Gordon at No. 1. Lorelei Hughes and Madison Smith picked up a 6–2 win over Chloe Pickett and Avanly Pharis at No. 2. Dani Abrams and Ella Poe battled to a 7–5 victory over Kyra Froman and Sheyann Lakia at No. 3. At No. 4, Rylie Keal and Kami Scott lost 3–6 to Jocelyn Massa and Josie Corn, while Addy Storms and Eileen Wang fell 2–6 to Helene Finck and Ila Frank at No. 5. With the win, the varsity team improves to 7–4 overall and 2–1 in the EIAC, while the junior varsity moves to 5–2–1 overall and 2–0–1 in conference play. The Spartans return to action Thursday, April 30 at 5:30 p.m. as they host Richmond. Seniors will be honored prior to the match. Looking ahead, Connersville travels to Batesville on Monday, May 4 (5:30 p.m.), hosts Hagerstown on Tuesday, May 5 (5:00 p.m.), and welcomes Lawrenceburg on Thursday, May 7 (5:00 p.m.). On Friday, May 8, the junior varsity will host Blue River Valley (5:00 p.m.). The week concludes with a four-team invitational, “A Serve To Remember,” on Saturday, May 9 beginning at 9:00 a.m. Come out and enjoy the festivities and a great day of tennis!
