The 8th grade Lady Spartans played a good game, but came up short against Monroe Central Wednesday night. After falling behind 0-3 in the 5th inning the Spartans rallied back to tie the game in the bottom half of the 5th. Monroe Central then put up 2 runs in the 6th and another 2 runs in the 7th inning to bring the score to 3-7. The Spartans continued to fight back adding 2 runs in the bottom half of the 7th but it wasn't enough to capture the victory with a final score of 5-7. Leading the Spartans in hitting was Charli Ficklin with 2 hits. Sammi Lakes and Macy Smith both added a hit and RBI with Rylynn Conley and Tinesley Jefferson each getting hits. Alexis Mays-Cox added 2 RBIs. Rylynn Conley went the distance on the mound pitching 7 innings giving up 3 earned runs while striking out 12 batters. The 8th grade Lady Spartans will next be in action Thursday night playing the second game of a doubleheader at home against East Central.
