The Concord Yellowjackets wrapped up a memorable campaign in the first round of the MHSAA 8-Man Football Division 1 playoffs on October 30, closing out their 2026 season with a solid 6-4 record. In a high-scoring 49-40 playoff battle, Concord’s high-octane offense put on a show from start to finish, racking up 454 total yards and 21 first downs on 60 plays. Quarterback Wyatt Mandrelle spearheaded the passing game with an elite performance, completing 30 of 39 passes for 355 yards, 4 touchdowns, and two two-point conversions. Mandrelle distributed the ball with precision, leaning heavily on Darrell Dean Jr., who hauled in an incredible 17 receptions for 173 yards and a 7-yard touchdown catch in the second quarter. Wideout Culley Sprague provided explosive big plays downfield, catching 7 passes for 165 yards and 2 touchdowns—including scoring strikes of 31 and 30 yards—while also pulling in two crucial two-point conversion passes. Multifaceted standout Luke Burrow put his versatility on full display across all three phases of the game. Burrow spearheaded the rushing attack with 93 yards and a touchdown on 10 carries, highlighted by a 44-yard touchdown run in the third quarter. He added a 3-yard receiving touchdown and provided a major spark on special teams by taking a kickoff 81 yards to the house for a touchdown. Concord showed relentless determination in clutch situations throughout the contest, converting 75% of its fourth-down attempts (3-for-4) and 43% of its third downs (3-for-7). On defense, Landen Lynn led the Yellowjackets' physical effort with a team-high 9 tackles and 8 assists. Defensive line playmaker Garrett Tyler wreaked havoc in the backfield with 3 sacks and a forced fumble, while Austin Taylor contributed 5 tackles, 9 assists, and a sack. H. Watts recorded a sack of his own alongside 2 tackles and 6 assists, and K. Frazer secured a takeaway with a key fumble recovery. Although the narrow 49-40 postseason clash brought the year to a close, the Yellowjackets' explosive playoff performance put an exclamation point on a 6-4 season defined by offensive firepower and resilient team play. The Yellowjackets were also SCAA White Division Champions.
