On Friday night the Concord High School Cross Country Teams traveled to Ella Sharp Park to compete in the MHSAA Regional Meet. Compete they did, as both the Boys and Girls teams were able to earn a trip to the State Meet on November 7th at Michigan International Speedway. In the boys race everyone knew it would be a battle as our Regional had 17 schools and only the top 3 teams would earn a trip to the State Meet. When the results were tallied Hillsdale Academy was first, Sand Creek was second, Manchester was third and Concord was fourth but a fourth place team can make it to the State Meet when they have four runners in the top 20 individual places. Well Concord Boys may have gotten edged out by 3 points to Manchester for third but they were able to achieve a very rare way to qualify for the State Meet by putting four athletes in the top 20. Finn Hutchinson and Jase Herendeen both earned All-Regional Honors as they placed 12th and 15th. Kadin Shook was 19th, Keaton Smith was 20th, Liam Bauman placed 24th and Zane Jason was 35th. Congratulations to Finn, Jase, Kadin, Liam, and Zane as they all ran amazing and that resulted in all of them running their fastest time ever. Finn ran fantastic beating his previous best time by an unbelievable one minute twenty six seconds. What an amazing meet it was for our Yellowjacket boys. In the girls race the number one ranked team in the State Hillsdale Academy took first with 24 points and our Lady Yellowjackets placed second with 42 points to earn a trip to the State Meet. Leading the way for the girls was Audrey Pyle in second place, in third place was Audrey Rinehart, in tenth was Haley Stimer, in twelfth was Braelynn Thorrez, and in twenty first was Mya Barrett. Congratulations to Audrey Pyle, Audrey Rinehart, Haley Stimer and Braelynn Thorrez for earning All-Regional Honors. Congratulations to Audrey Rinehart and Braelynn Thorrez as they both ran their fastest time ever. We also want to congratulate Audrey Pyle and Haley Stimer as they ran their fastest time of the season. Overall it was a wonderful night for the Concord Cross Country Teams and we now look forward to Monday, where we will have the opportunity to compete against all the teams in Jackson County in the J. Chris Jensen Meet.
