On a beautiful Saturday morning, the Concord Cross Country athletes traveled to Hudson for their annual Invitational. Because the Invitational was split into divisions, we competed in the lower division, where 23 teams competed against one another. For the Concord Girls, it was an outstanding day. Last Saturday, Leslie earned the Stockbridge Invitational Championship, and we finished in second. Today, Leslie was also one of the teams competing, but our ladies scored 38 to beat out Leslie, who finished in second with 48, as we earned the Hudson Booster Invitational Team Championship Trophy! Way to go, girls. All 6 of our athletes earned medals. Mya Barrett finished in 23rd, Olivia Chadwell was 19th, and Braelynn Thorrez not only ran her fastest time of the season but also had an outstanding finish, going from 16th to 15th in the final 150 meters or so and making up about 30 meters. Way to go, Braelynn. Coming in 5th was Audrey Rinehart, and in 3rd was Haley Stimer, who had her fastest race of the 2026 season. Leading the way, Audrey Pyle battled with a Leslie girl for most of the race and earned the meet's Individual Championship honor. Altogether, it was a great team effort. Way to race and represent Concord Ladies. Our High School Boys also had a great day. Last week at Stockbridge, Manchester beat us by 7 points, and today our Concord Guys came together to beat Manchester by 1 point, finishing in 7th place. Awesome job, guys. For the guys, Brandon Watkins finished in 93rd, Zane Jason in 67th, and Kadin Shook had a fantastic last mile or so, passing numerous other runners to finish in 47th; right in front of him was Liam Bauman in 46th. Earning medals for the boys were Finn Hutchinson in 44th with his fastest time ever, and in 24th was Jase Herendeen, who also ran his fastest time ever. Congratulations, Finn and Jase. Leading the way for the boys was Keaton Smith, who finished in 22nd. We now look forward to the final Big 8 Jamboree of the 2026 season as we head to Ella Sharp Park on Tuesday to compete in the first-ever East Jackson Jamboree.
