Each year, members of the CHS coaching staff nominate and vote for a male and female athlete of the year. The winners can come from any grade and any sport. Coaches consider factors such as overall athletic ability, attitude, academic achievement, being a good teammate, participation in other sports and school activities, and a host of other factors. This is the most prestigious annual award presented by the Concord Athletic Department other than Hall of Fame Induction. The recipients of this award can be the same people as the Kiwanis Athletes of the Year, or they can be different. The 2024-25 Concord Female Athlete of the Year is senior Zoe Roberts. Zoe participated in cross country and track. She graduated with 8 athletic letters – 4 in each sport. She graduates holding the school record in cross country and also in track in both the 1600 and 3200. She also became the first Concord girl since 1995 to qualify for state finals in cross country this year! She will continue her academic and athletic careers at Goshen College. The 2024-25 Concord Male Athlete of the Year is senior Jaron Thomas. Jaron participated in football and track. He graduated with 7 athletic letters – 3 in football and 4 in track. In track he was a sectional champion in the 100 in as a sophomore and earned a 7th place medal at the state meet as a junior in the 4×100 Relay. Unfortunately an injury prevented him from competing for most of his senior track season. In football he was a key member of our 10-1 NLC Champion Football Team his senior year and was named Mr. Football at running back and to the Indiana Top 50 Team for 2024. He will continue his academic and football careers at Purdue University.
