Written by: Raeonna Stamper The Calhoun Middle School boys’ basketball teams traveled to rival Gilmer County on January 10th for a night of Saturday Night Basketball against the Mini Titans. Both games were hard-fought from the start to finish, with the B team coming away with a win, while the A team battled but unfortunately fell short. The B team game kept fans on the edge of their seats. The score stayed neck and neck throughout the game, rarely more than a single point apart. Abe Dow led the Devils with 12 points, showing determination as he helped—with the help of his team pushing to a 28–25 victory. The A team followed with another intense matchup. Through the first three quarters, the game remained close and nerve-racking. However, the Devils struggled to maintain their momentum in the fourth quarter and fell to the Mini Titans, 28–39. Despite the loss, Kason Stamper stood out, earning his first official double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Although the A team didn’t return home with a W, their effort and determination were clear as they fought until the final buzzer.
