It was a busy and successful Thursday, May 7th, for Chelsea Athletics, headlined by a narrow victory on the links and a historic showing at the SEC White Finals. From the golf course to the track, the Bulldogs proved once again why they are a force to be reckoned with in the conference. Boys Golf: Bulldogs Edge Out Vikings Final Score: Chelsea 154, Jackson 159 In a tightly contested dual meet, the Chelsea Boys Varsity Golf team secured a 5-stroke victory over Jackson. The Bulldogs benefited from incredible consistency at the top of the lineup. • Co-Medalists: Parker Westcott and Logan Fansler led the charge, both finishing with an impressive 36 par. Their ability to navigate the course with precision proved to be the difference maker in the narrow win. Girls Tennis: Grit Leads to Draw with Western Final Score: Chelsea 4, Western 4 The Girls Tennis team showed immense heart on the courts, battling to a hard-fought draw against Western. The highlight of the match came from the #4 doubles team, where resilience was the name of the game. • The Comeback: Isa Moser and Leah Helquist staged two massive rallies to secure their point. They erased a 4-3 deficit to take the first set 7-6, and followed it up by storming back from a 4-1 hole in the second set to win 6-4. That final push ensured the Bulldogs walked away with the tie. Track & Field: Silver Finishes at SEC White Finals Both the Boys and Girls Track teams headed to the SEC White Finals today, with both programs securing impressive 2nd Place finishes overall. Boys Track Highlights The boys saw dominant individual performances in both explosive sprints and technical field events: • Gibby Ichesco: Took home 1st place in the 100m dash with a blistering time of 11.03. • Josh Doyle: Reached new heights in the Pole Vault, securing 1st place with a vault of 12’ 8”. Girls Track Highlights The girls relied on speed and technical hurdle work to secure their silver finish: • Melina King: Earned 2nd place in two events, posting a 12.93 in the 100m and a 26.74 in the 200m. • India Barney: Took 2nd place in the 100m hurdles with a time of 17.24.
