CHELSEA, MI — It was a busy Tuesday for Chelsea High School athletics as the Bulldogs faced off against familiar SEC rivals in both water polo and golf. While the action moved from the water to the grass, Chelsea fans had plenty to cheer about on May 5th. Girls Water Polo: Bulldogs Sink the Dreadnaughts The Chelsea Girls Varsity Water Polo team continued their impressive run with a decisive 9-5 victory over rivals Dexter. The Bulldogs controlled the pace from the opening sprint, utilizing a stifling defense that kept the Dreadnaughts at bay for much of the first half. Chelsea’s offensive coordination proved too much for Dexter to handle, as the Bulldogs found the back of the net consistently to secure the four-goal win. Boys Golf: Chelsea Splits SEC Tri-Match On the links, the Chelsea Boys Varsity Golf team headed into a competitive SEC tri-match featuring perennial powerhouse Saline and neighbor Dexter. The Bulldogs walked away with a 1-1 split for the day, showing resilience against two tough opponents. The Scores | Matchup | Chelsea | Opponent | Result | | vs. Saline | 157 | 145 | Loss | | vs. Dexter | 157 | 169 | Win | Match Highlights: The Victory: Chelsea comfortably handled Dexter, outshooting the Dreadnaughts by 12 strokes (157-169). The Battle: Against Saline, the Bulldogs put up a solid team score of 157, but it wasn't enough to catch the Hornets, who finished with a blistering 145. "A 157 is a strong team showing," noted local fans. "Splitting against Saline and Dexter shows exactly where this team stands—right in the thick of the SEC hunt." Up Next: The Bulldogs look to carry this momentum into the late-week schedule as conference play heats up across all spring sports.
