Zolman and Marker Advance Out of Sectional #8

The Central Noble Cougars boys track and field team delivered a spirited showing at the 2025 IHSAA Sectional #8 meet, held on Thursday, May 22, at Angola High School. With athletes competing across multiple events, the Cougars demonstrated grit, growth, and a commitment to improving their presence in the Northeast Indiana track scene. A standout performance came from senior Redick Zolman in the long jump. Zolman soared to a mark of 21 feet, 9.75 inches, capturing first place and the sectional title. His jump not only secured 10 points for the team but also qualified him for the regional meet. Zolman also made waves on the track, placing fourth in the 400 meters with an impressive time of 51.65 seconds, adding 5 more points to Central Noble’s total. His versatility and athleticism proved invaluable for the Cougars. In distance events, senior Jaxon Kitchen finished 10th in the 1600 meters with a time of 4:52.06, while junior Keegan Knight followed in 13th at 4:56.87. In the 3200 meters, junior Kyle Knafel placed fifth in a competitive field, crossing the line in 10:12.54 to earn 4 points, and freshman Ruger Lough placed 10th with a solid 10:46.44. The 4x800 meter relay team, composed of Knafel, Knight, Lough, and Kitchen, finished in sixth place with a time of 8:59.69, earning 3 points. In the 4x400 meter relay, the quartet of Michael Slone, Knight, Kitchen, and Zolman clocked 3:45.14, finishing 10th. Michael Slone also represented Central Noble in the 400 meters, placing seventh overall in 53.29 seconds, while freshman Nathaniel Rice and freshman Kayne Sparrow competed in the 300-meter hurdles, placing 20th and 22nd, respectively. In field events, senior Adam Marker delivered a strong throw of 47 feet, 5 inches in the shot put, earning a third-place finish and 6 points. In the discus, freshman Bryson Stump threw 98 feet, 2 inches, finishing 20th, and sophomore Jack Knepper followed in 22nd with a mark of 94 feet, 11 inches. In the pole vault, freshman Dalton Bergman cleared 9 feet, 6 inches, tying for 12th place. On the sprint side, freshman Dalton Bergman also ran the 100-meter dash, clocking 12.86 seconds to finish 24th, and sophomore Sebastyn Duncan followed with a time of 14.15 seconds. In the long jump, junior Damyan Duncan placed 26th with a jump of 15 feet, 10 inches, while Redick Zolman’s championship mark led the event. Overall, the Central Noble Cougars totaled 28 points, highlighted by Zolman’s sectional title in the long jump. The Cougars will be back in action next Thursday when they travel to Goshen to take part in the Regional Track and Field Championship! Go Cougars!!!
