This year marks the 50th anniversary of the historic championship win by the 1975 Central Noble Lady Cougars Girls’ Basketball Team, a milestone moment that helped shape the future of girls’ athletics in the community and remains a source of pride for generations. In 1975, the team captured the first-ever NECC Girls Basketball Tournament title with a memorable season defined by teamwork, perseverance, and exceptional talent. Their championship victory was not only a triumph on the court but also a pioneering achievement during a time when opportunities for girls in competitive sports were rapidly evolving. To commemorate the anniversary, the Central Noble Athletic Department will host a special celebration event on Saturday, December 13th, 2025 during half time of the CNHS Girl’s Varsity Game, bringing together former players, coaches, families, and supporters. The ceremony will honor the athletes who contributed to the landmark season and highlight the lasting impact their victory has had on the Central Noble Girl’s Basketball program. “This team paved the way for countless young women who came after them,” said Shawn Hoover, Principal/Assistant AD. “Their dedication, courage, and competitive spirit helped transform what girls’ basketball could be in our community and we look forward to celebrating them!” The anniversary event will feature recognition of team members and coach during half time of the Girl’s Varsity Game, a memorabilia display, and opportunities for the community to greet team members and coaches following the recognition ceremony. Members of the public, alumni, and supporters are invited to attend.
