Carroll Boys’ Tennis Clinches Regional Title with 4-1 Win Over DeKalb

The Carroll High School boys’ tennis team delivered a commanding performance Thursday evening, defeating DeKalb 4-1 in the regional finals and securing their spot in Saturday’s semi-state showdown against Penn. Carroll entered the match with a 15-4 record and wasted no time asserting dominance across the courts. While DeKalb’s Oliver Derrow edged out Andrew Jamison in a hard-fought battle at No. 1 singles, Carroll swept the remaining matches with precision and poise. No. 2 Singles: Tim Croft showcased his consistency and court awareness, outmaneuvering Wyatt Knepper to give Carroll its first point. No. 3 Singles: Alex Sznaza played with grit and control, dispatching Liam Schlatter in straight sets. No. 1 Doubles: The duo of Jack Jones and Sam Mettler continued their stellar season, improving to 18-4 and clinching their third postseason win. No. 2 Doubles: Alex Holley and Boston Smith sealed the victory with a confident performance against DeKalb’s senior pair. With the win, Carroll improves to 19-4 on the season and turns its focus to the semi-state matchup against powerhouse Penn High School. The match is set for Saturday, where Carroll will look to extend its postseason run and punch a ticket to the state finals.
