On a cool Thursday afternoon the Fighting Scots welcomed the Hudsonville Eagles for the rubber match of a three game series. After two quick outs in the top of the first, an error and a double gave Hudsonville a quick 1-0 lead. Hudsonville then took a 2-0 lead when a pick off throw back to third base sailed into left field. Catcher Jace Lawton was able to pick off a runner that was stealing second base. Caledonia then responded quickly in the bottom of the first when a single by Nick Slater was able to score Corbin Raffler. Derek Pennington was able to tie the game up at two when he was able to score on a fielder’s choice play that resulted in an error. The game remained scoreless until the top of the fourth when two straight singles and a sac fly gave Hudsonville a 3-2 advantage. Hudsonville then stretched their lead to 7-2 on a groundout, a passed ball and a single that scored two runs. Caledonia was held scoreless the rest of the game as Hudsonville held on to take the series. Sophomore Cam Myers got his first varsity conference start as he pitched five innings allowing six hits, two runs, one walk and striking out four. Mitchell Smith came in on relief as he threw two innings allowing four hits, three runs, one walk and striking out one. Juniors Corbin Raffler, Derek Pennington and Nick Slater each had a hit for Caledonia.
