The Fighting Scots looked to extend their win streak to four yesterday as they headed to Spring Lake to face the Lakers. Spring Lake took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the third on a walk from Caledonia starter Aaron Hileman with the bases loaded. Spring Lake added their second and third runs of the inning with a Lineout to center fielder Micheal Douglass and a fly ball single to right field. Caledonia was able to respond quickly in the top of the fourth. Mitchell Smith was able to single on a fly ball to center field and Tommy Clarey reached base on an error by the Spring Lake shortstop. Smart heads up base running by Smith allowed him to advance to third off of the error. A passed ball allowed Smith to score and cut the lead down to 3-1. Tommy Clarey was able to score the second run for Caledonia when Jace Lawton was able to reach base on a hard hit ground ball into the hole at shortstop. Caledonia’s threat ended when Drew Drennan was caught stealing. In the top of the fifth, the Scots quickly got things going after Micheal Douglas was able to draw a lead off walk and AJ Szabo was hit by a pitch. Caledonia was able to tie things up at three when Douglass was able to score from a passed ball. The game remained tied at three at the end of the seventh. In the top of the ninth, Alex Skibinski was able to get on base after he reached on an error by the right fielder. Skibinski then was able to advance to second base on that same error. Micheal Douglass was able to draw a walk which gave Caledonia runners on first and second with two outs. A wild pitch allowed Douglass and Skibinski to advance to second and third.
