Scots Complete Game One Comeback

Northview was able to score in the top of the inning of the first inning off of a double and two passed balls. Caledonia threatened to score in the bottom of the first after a two singles by Nick Slater and Derek Pennington but the Wildcats were able to get out of the jam with a double play. Northview was held scoreless in both the second and the third as Carter Born faced four batters each inning. Caledonia was also held scoreless in innings two and three as the score remained 1-0 through three. After another scoreless inning by Carter Born, the Fighting Scots bats started to heat up in the bottom of the fourth. Both Derek Pennington and Mitchell Smith were able to reach base on back to back singles, Caledonia looked to be in prime position to take the lead. Northview got their first out after they were able to pick off Pennington at second. Caledonia got runners at the corners after junior Tommy Clarey reach on error to get runners at the corners with one out. Caledonia was ably to take a 2-1 lead when senior Jace Lawton ripped a line drive down the left field line to score both Smith and Clarey. The Wildcats tied it at two in the top of the sixth. Derek Pennington got the bottom of the sixth started with a single to left field. He was able to advance to second on a stolen base. After a long AB, Tommy Clarey was able to reach base on a hit by pitch. A fly out ended the threat for the Scots. In the top of the seventh, Notthview was able to take a 4-2 lead on a triple and a walk. The bottom of the seventh started with Zach Maurer singling to left. After a double by Nick Slater and a walk by AJ Roszkowski the Scots had bases loaded and one out. Derek Pennington came to the plate and ripped a fly ball to the deepest part of right field scoring Skibinski, Slater and Rozskowski and giving the Scots the 5-4 walkoff win. Junior Carter Born got the start for the Scots. The Junior lasted six and two-thirds innings allowing two runs, two walks no striking out seven. Born was credited with the no decision.
