Softball Opens the Season With a Pair of Wins

Game 1 Recap Caledonia Scots jumped out to an early lead over Forest Hills Central and took home a 10-2 victory on Tuesday. Caledonia Varsity Fighting Scots scored on a groundout by Kala Bisterfeldt, a triple by Jaz Dana, and a single by MacKenzie Parker in the first inning. Dana was credited with the victory for Caledonia Varsity Fighting Scots. She went six and two-thirds innings, allowing two runs on seven hits, striking out nine and walking one. The Scots tallied 13 hits. Dana, Parker, MacKenize DeVries, and Bisterfeldt each managed multiple hits for Caledonia. Parker and Dana all had three hits to lead Caledonia Varsity Fighting Scots. Game 2 Recap: Caledonia Varsity Fighting Scots defeated Forest Hills Central 16-2 on Tuesday thanks in part to Malia Burke, who drove in six runners. Burke drove in runs on a single in the first and a grand slam in the first. Caledonia secured the victory thanks to 12 runs in the first inning. Caledonia Varsity Fighting Scots offense in the inning was led by Molly Lieske, Burke, Marisa Kohn, Grace Siekman, Lieske, and Burke, all driving in runs in the inning. The Fighting Scots opened up scoring in the first inning. An error scored two runs for Caledonia Varsity Fighting Scots. Sophomore Molly Lieske was the winning pitcher for Caledonia . She allowed two hits and two runs over four innings, striking out three. Caledonia Varsity Fighting Scots hit one home run on the day. As Sophomore Malia Burke had a grand slam for the Scots. Caledonia totaled ten hits in the game. MacKenize DeVries and Burke each collected multiple hits for Caledonia Varsity Fighting Scots.
