The Caledonia boys track team had a tremendous day at the MITCA Division 1 State Championship! The team showed their true depth by rising from being ranked #4 in the State to a 2nd place overall finish. The Fighting Scots were edged out by Zeeland West 1,145 points to 1,144.5 points but beat conference rival East Kenwood who had 1,141 points. Every place mattered as points were earned based on 1st place being equal to 36 points on down to 36th place being worth 1 point. The team had amazing performances in all events outdoing almost every predicted finish on the day. The team was led by one 1st place performance, the 4x800 relay team of Josh Oom, Donovan Mattson, Andy Adams, and Caden Dixon in a time of 7:58.79. Another highlight was the 4x100 relay of Mason Powers, Dharius Walker, Brock Townsend, and Ethan Berends breaking the school record yet a 3rd time this season running a time of 42.99. All of the boys should be congratulated on their amazing performances on the day.
