Thompsonville, MI — Monday, the Caledonia Ski teams traveled to Crystal Mountain to compete in the Bryan Groenevelt Memorial Race. The race is held each year to honor the memory of a ski racer who passed away after a terrible crash, ski racing. The boys ski team finished the day in 2nd place in the nine team meet that featured two ranked team and a field of great skiers. “Our guys really skied well and showed their depth today. All seven guys that we skied scored today. In ski racing when you do well you typically have 4 or 5 skiers score and more than that means there was some type of problem but all of our varsity skiers are fast and could score on any run.” Coach Petrosky “We came out skied well in GS, with all of our skiers putting down two solids runs which put us into third. In slalom, we had a ski pop off right away and the rest of the team focused and knocked down great runs on a very rutted and bumpy score to keep our score low enough to end up 2nd. We have been stressing that if someone has a tough run the next guy will pick them up and help the team.” Earning medals were Jake Potgeter (4th SL, 14th GS), Jackson Otto (4th GS), Aidan Brown (13th GS), James Prichard (9th SL), and Peter Calhoun (15th SL) Also scoring were Justin Harper 14th GS and Derick Prichard 18th SL. 1st Lake Charlevoix 72pts 2nd Caledonia 94pts 3rd Glen Lake. 96pts 4th Clare. 111pts 5th GR Christian 128pts 6th Grand Haven 216pts 7th Harrison 224pts 8th Mt Pleasant 302pts 9th Onekema No Team Score
