The BBE 8th Grade Girls Basketball team showed incredible resilience and determination in their 43-38 victory over the Carmel Greyhounds last night. The game was a back-and-forth contest from start to finish, with the Bulldogs trailing by just one point at the half. However, in the second half, BBE’s dominance on the boards and strong post play helped them take control and seal the win. The Bulldogs came out of the locker room after halftime with renewed energy and focus, particularly in the rebounding department. Thakiya Gault provided a crucial spark off the bench, contributing 2 points and pulling down key rebounds that helped shift momentum in BBE's favor. Ava Emberton led the charge for the Bulldogs, scoring a game-high 30 points. Her offensive performance was key in helping the Bulldogs maintain their offensive rhythm throughout the game. Additionally, Alli Keel and Payton Brodnik each scored 3 points and played outstanding defense, helping limit Carmel’s scoring opportunities. Rylee Amt also made her presence felt, contributing two important free throws and securing vital boards. Meanwhile, Makenzie Dove continued her relentless defensive play, sparking the Bulldogs’ late-game surge. Her tenacious defense played a pivotal role in BBE’s ability to take over the lead in the final quarter. With the win, the Bulldogs improved their record to 5-1 and are now set to hit the road for a matchup against Plainfield later today. The team will look to build on this hard-fought victory and continue their strong season as they head into the next challenge. The Bulldogs have proven they can handle close, high-pressure games, and their collective effort, especially on defense and the boards, will be a key factor as they move forward in the season.
