Braves Lose to Bloomington South to Fall To 1-7

By Tad Williams | Oct 10, 2025 11:25 PM

Bloomington South came north to Brebeuf ranked 2nd in 5A, the fifth Top-10 opponent the Braves have played this season, and the Panthers played more or less up to their billing, scoring touchdowns on their first four drives en route to a commanding 38-7 victory over Brebeuf, who fell to 1-7 on the season. Carter Cosgrove played perhaps his best game of the season at QB, completing 22 of 32 passes for 250 yards and the team's only score, a 9-yard pass to Edwin Watson III in the fourth quarter. Pressured often, but sacked only once, Cosgrove was a slippery eel, constantly turning 8-yard losses to 3-yard gains. Brebeuf played well enough on offense to keep it close, with 330 yards and 22 first downs, but when the Braves had 14 and 11-play drives in the second quarter both stall in the red zone, it became largely academic. The Braves host Terre Haute North next Friday night for Senior Night, before sectional play begins on October 24. Go Braves!
