College bound athletes recognized on signing night

Emma Myers is a member of our cheer program under the direction of head coach Katrina Avery. Emma is the daughter of Shannon Myers & Robert Thomas, and she will continue cheering at Northern Kentucky University in Highlands Heights where she intends to study elementary education. Coach Avery called Emma “one of the most dedicated, driven, and well-rounded athletes I’ve had the honor to coach” and said that her “leadership qualities shine on and off the mat. Emma leads with humility and heart.”   Mackenzie Sullivan, a member of our dance team previously under the direction of head coach Kristin Morvik. Mackzenie is the daughter of Katie Sullivan, and she will continue dancing at Thomas More University in Crestview Hills where she intends to study health science. Coach Morvik said Kenzie has “exemplified dedication, resilience, and a true love for dance,” and that her leadership, passion, talent, and work ethic have left a lasting impact on the program. Morvik continued to say that she can’t wait to see Kenzie thrive academically and artistically in her next chapter at Thomas More.  Peyton Storer is a member of our football team under the direction of head coach Dan Court. Peyton is the son of Tony & Sarah Storer, and he will continue playing at Calumet College of St. Joseph in Whiting, Indiana where he intends to study business management. Coach Court called Peyton “a vital part of the team’s success” after he accounted for more than 1,100 yards and 9 touchdowns this past season. Court added that “we are excited to see a Boone County quarterback get an opportunity to play the next level, and we look forward to the success he will have.”  Parker Byland is a member of our boys soccer team under the direction of head coach Tony Trenkamp. Parker is the son of Tim and Laura Byland, and he will continue playing at Northern Kentucky University in Highland Heights where he intends to study biological sciences. Coach Trenkamp praised Parker’s poise, skill, soccer IQ and “class on the ball.” Trenkamp also said that NKU is getting a “great teammate” and that his peers always looked to Parker for leadership. He said it was a privilege to have Parker, and it will be exciting to see him continue playing so close to home.  Logan Trout is another member of our boys soccer team under the direction of coach Trenkamp. Logan is the son of Alex and Mandy Trout, and he will continue playing at the University of Cincinnati Clermont in Batavia, Ohio where he intends to study mechanical engineering. Coach Trenkamp said that under Logan’s smile and easy-going personality is a “fierce defender” with quiet confidence. Trenkamp expects Logan’s competitive example to be an asset to his team at the collegiate level, and he and the program are excited to cheer him on as he continues his soccer journey locally.  Our next signee is Maliyah Fayson, a member of our girls soccer team, formerly under the direction of head coach Ian Bohman, and the girls track and field team under the direction of head coach Cliff Riley. Maliyah is the daughter of Samantha Pyles and Mike Fayson, and she will continue competing in both sports at Indiana University Columbus in Columbus, Indiana where she intends to study criminal justice. Coach Riley called Maliyah a “very reliable runner” in relay races and said it has been a “pleasure” having her on the team. He praised her performance in throwing events, remarking on her vast improvement in the discus, and her potential to compete at state in the Turbo Javelin. Azaria Sweet is a member of our volleyball program under the direction of head coach Michelle Pappas. Azaria is the daughter of Courtney Big and Phillip Sweet, and she will continue playing at the University of North Carolina Wilmington in Wilmington, North Carolina where she intends to study nursing. Coach Pappas said Azaria started contributing as an 8th grader, and showed leadership, skill and determination throughout her career. She also called Azaria a “superior role model” and said she will be missed by both coaches and teammates, but that everyone is looking forward to seeing the amazing things she does in her next chapter.  Tahliq Clemmons played basketball under the direction of head coach Todd Humphrey. Tahliq is the son of Bobby & Tyisha Clemmons, and he will continue playing at Calumet College of St. Joseph in Whiting, Indiana where he intends to study business. Coach Humphrey called Tahliq a “lockdown defender” and “hard worker with a consistently positive attitude.” Humphrey also praised him as a strong student and a reliable leader whose “team-first” mentality played a “huge role” in the team’s success. “We’re excited to see what the future holds for him.” Dani Wright is a member of our softball program under the direction of head coach Angel Miller. Dani is the daughter of Dawn and Danny Wright, and she will continue playing at Muskingum University in New Concord, Ohio where she is undecided about her major. Coach Miller said Dani has been “instrumental” since she started playing during her 7th grade year, and her talent has made her one of the state’s top pitchers. She currently ranks 9th in the state in strikeouts per nine innings, and she has punched out more than 500 batters in her career. Miller said she will be missed, but she knows Dani will be very successful in college.  Charlotte Cunningham is a member of our girls swim team, under the direction of head coach Lance Melching, and the girls track and field team under the direction of head coach Cliff Riley. Charlotte is the daughter of Mary and Kevin Cunningham, and she will be joining the triathlon team at Northern Kentucky University in Highland Heights where she intends to study biology. Coach Melching said that Charlotte’s “incredible dedication, work ethic and skill” are the perfect combination for success as a triathlete and he “can’t wait to see where the sport takes her.” Coach Riley said Charlotte has demonstrated her versatility by doing just about every track running event possible (and some field events too). She has also been recognized for her sportsmanship and professionalism. He said that it has been a pleasure having Charlotte on the track team.
