Boys bowling wins 3rd straight regional, Kuryla & Sears qualify for state singles

The boys bowling team won the Region 6 team championship for the third consecutive year on Jan. 31 at the Florence Bowling Center. The Rebels earned a first-round bye and the No. 2 seed after the seeding rounds. They defeated Lloyd 3-0 and Beechwood 3-1 before facing No. 1 Cooper in the finals. After taking 2-0 lead over Cooper, the Jaguars rallied to force a decisive fifth game which the Rebels won 183-176. The boys bowling team will compete at the state championship in Louisville on Feb. 7. For the second straight year, Maddox Kuryla and Izzy Sears have qualified for the singles state bowling tournament. The pair of freshman qualified on Jan. 30 at Florence Bowling Center when Kuryla finished 2nd in the boys competition and Sears finished 4th in the girls competition. Kuryla will bowl on the afternoon of Feb. 7, and Sears will bowl on the afternoon of Feb. 8, both in Louisville.
