Boone County High School is excited to announce that a boys volleyball program will launch under the direction of head coach Matt Horton and assistant coach Ryan Basford. Horton played four years of volleyball at Lakota West High School, with the team winning the regional and advancing to the state tourney his senior year. Horton then served in the army for more than three years as a cavalry scout, including a NATO training mission to Europe that deepened his understanding and importance of teamwork and cooperation. He is in his second year as a history teacher at Boone. Basford is in his fifth year as a business teacher at Boone, and he brings six years of youth coaching experience. Both Horton and Basford sponsored the volleyball club last school year, and they have both been playing volleyball since they were children. The interview committee was impressed with their commitment to relationship building and creating a great student experience. Welcome to your new roles at Boone County High School, Coach Horton and Coach Basford.
