Beech Grove Middle School Athletics

Beech Grove were triumphant over Speedway Jr. High 6-3 on Wednesday at the HS Turf Field. Nola Alford grounded out, which helped Beech Grove tie the game at one int he bottom of the first. Beech Grove scored on a passed ball, which helped Beech Grove tie the game at the two in the bottom of the second. Beech Grove took the lead in the bottom of the third. A passed ball scored one run, to give Beech Grove the edge 3-2. In the bottom of the fifth, Beech Grove broke up the tie when Addy Corn tripled, scoring two runs. Then a walk by Trisha Sparks followed to extend the lead to 6-3. Samarah Turner stepped in the circle first Beech Grove. The right-handed pitcher gave up six hits and three runs (one-earned) over four innings, striking out seven and walking one. Kyrah Pierle pitched three innings of scoreless ball for Beech Grove in relief. The reliever surrendered zero hits, striking out six and walking none. Corn provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Beech Grove with two runs batted in. The cleanup hitter when 2-for-3 on the day. Hayden Fanning and Corn each collected two hits for Beech Grove. Turner stole two bases. Beech Grove had a strong eye on the plate, amassing five walks for the game.
