Bedford Varsity Swim came away with their first team victory of the season. The Mules competed against a very strong Monroe team and the team from Jackson. The final score was 121 Monroe: 65 Bedford and 110 Bedford:76 Jackson. We had a lot of great races tonight. We switched up a number of the races as we were competing in a pool with no blocks, so our goals were to race and to see how many personal bests we could come away with under the circumstances. Senior Ashlyn Williams started the team off with a 5 second PR in the 200 Free. Sophomore Kendra Bland then tried her new skill set in the 200 IM. She had an amazing race and almost qualified for Varsity in her first ever IM. Kendra also swam out of her mind in the 500 free with 29 second PR and a 2nd Place in the race. Freshman Alex Lenz had two PRs tonight. She outsprinted her previous 50 free time by over a second as well she shaved off another 9 seconds in the 500 free. Sophomore Kat Wachowiack debuted in her first every 100 fly and crushed her previous time in the 100 Backstroke by 3 seconds. Sophomore Sydney Ridner volunteered for the painstaking 100 fly and finished her race in a time that just missed Varsity Qualification. Junior Camille Hansen swam a great 100 free and dropped almost 2 seconds in that event... even without a starting block. Junior Samantha Smith completed her 100 backstroke in a 1 second personal best! All in all I am super happy with what I saw tonight! I am looking forward to seeing how fast we are on Saturday!
