Game 1 Saturday afternoon, the Vikings opened up our home tournament against the New Buffalo Raiders. From the beginning, the Vikings dominated the midfield and created a chance for Anthony Villalobos to open up the score sheet within minutes. As the game continued, the Vikings kept forcing mistakes from the opposition. This created a chance to win the ball back in midfield and let Carlos V. cut inside and shoot from outside 18 yards, giving us a comfortable 2-0 lead before half time. During the second half, the Vikings recovered the ball in midfield and switched the field, giving Gio Soriano the goal and Wilmer C his second assist of the game to seal the 3-0 win. Game 2 (Final) In the final, the Vikings took on the Watervliet Panthers. From the whistle, the Panthers were ready to press all over the field. This worked in their favor as they opened up the score sheet, giving them the lead 1-0. Fortunately, our Vikings kept their heads up and pushed hard to win a foul in the midfield. This led our captain, Carlos V., to cross a ball into the box and give Eduardo A. his first goal of the day. Five minutes before half-time, a defensive mistake from the opposition let Anthony V. take the ball into the final third and pass it off to Eduardo A. to give him his second goal of the day and the lead! At half-time, the Vikings regrouped to come out strong in the second half. This seemed to work as we found the net once more within 3 minutes of the second half. Once again, Eduardo scored his third goal of the day, giving him the hat trick and the goal to seal the game. Good job to all the boys for their grit and determination. It is amazing to see how much we've grown! With these wins, our record improves to 6-7-1. Our next game will be today, September 28th, vs. the Cassopolis Rangers.
